Mexican painting of the first half of the 20th century
In the 20th century, the art of Latin America, primarily Mexico, unexpectedly became one of the most significant phenomena of world culture. The dramatic history of this country is replete with brutal conquests, murders, merciless oppression of the masses – from the invasion of the warlike Aztec people, who later created a formidable state in Central Mexico, in the XII century.
In the first half of the 16th century, Mexico was conquered by the Spanish conquerors conquerors, they destroyed the ancient civilization that developed here, spread Christianity with fire and sword, and turned the Indians into slaves. Continue reading
ROKOTOV – GEYNSBORO: “THE POETS OF THE HUMAN FACE”
Thomas Gainsborough was ten years older than Rokotov. He was born in 1727 in the charming corner of East Anglia, Sudbury in Suffolk. Tom was the ninth child in the family of a cloth merchant, the genus of which belonged to the native inhabitants of the town. From her mother, who wrote flowers pretty well, Tom inherited a talent for drawing. During his school years, the boy ran into the picturesque surroundings of the town to capture the magnificent green of the meadows, the quiet bend of the river, the lonely trees. It is noteworthy that Gainsborough himself considered himself a landscape painter. At thirteen, he moved to London, where he first found himself in a silversmith’s workshop. Alexey Vladimirovich was born on March 10 (22), 1889 in Vyatka into the family of an iconostasis master, woodcarver and gilder Vladimir Petrovich Isupov. His first teachers were the “Kazan shop painter” Anastasii Maksimovich Chernogorov and Vasily Ivanovich Krotov, who came to Vyatka with the artel of paleeshan to paint the Assumption Cathedral of the Trifonov monastery.
